NHL Draft Lottery Winners and the Losers
The NHL Draft Lottery took place on May 8th 2023 and only 16 teams took part of this lottery and it was the 16 teams who did not make the playoffs this years so the teams you have are Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins,San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks and Washington Capitals these are the 16 teams in the lottery this season and to take place.
NHL Draft Lottery Losers
Now we go over the losers of this NHL Draft Lottery. The loser I feel in this Draft Lottery was the Ottawa Senators. They traded their first round pick to the Coyotes so the Coyotes have two first round picks in the Draft coming up this year. Another team I feel are losers in the draft lottery are Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins,Nashville Predators and Calgary Flames. These teams had a 0% chance of winning the number one pick for the upcoming draft this season and they had no chance of getting there. Another loser I feel is the Anaheim Ducks they had the first pick pre lottery and they fell down to the number two pick for the draft.
NHL Draft Lottery Winners
Some of the winners of the draft lottery are Chicago Blackhawks and Arizona Coyotes. The Blackhawks originally before the draft lottery they had the number three pick but climbed to the number one pick of the draft. The Arizona Coyotes have two picks in the draft and they are picks number six and twelve in the draft that is coming up. If you are new to the NHL draft lottery, the first pick is that the odds of each team winning is allocated based on the inverse order of the final season standings.
So each team has a one in sixteen chance of getting the first pick. So the percentage is zero point six two five percent getting the first pick. Also the people that got neutral results San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues Vancouver Canucks,Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators and Calgary Flames these teams are neutral because they didn’t lose anything or any spots in the draft lottery they didn’t have to have any rankings of the picks in the draft.
The draft is filled with tons of young talent going into the draft. So we will stay tuned with the draft and what each team needs for the draft to build for the teammates before the free agency comes up this season and be prepared for the year 2023-2024 season.

Overall I feel the draft Lottery had a chance to make people know what teams will do. I feel the Buffalo Sabers should have a chance to rebuild their team. The next team I feel they need to rebuild is the Philadelphia Flyers. They have been having a struggle with their team and trying to rebuild. The Anaheim Ducks had the worst season they had. They let go their coach and they lost a lot of key players in the past two seasons and are trying to rebuild their team.
