Quills Picks Winners – Tuesday 2/6 – Parx Race 6

By Joe Quillen

Tuesday 2/6/24 – Parx Race 6

We stay at my home track as we will look once again at the sixth race at Parx. We have an overflow field of 14 runners, with up to 12 horses to run in this $5000 claimer for fillies and mares four-years-old and up going six furlongs.

The favorite in this race is Take Charge Erica (#3, 7/2 morning line) who is coming off of a clunker in her return from a three-month freshening. She shortens up to six furlongs after coming back in a seven furlong version of this same race. She looks like there’s a few horses that will go to the front here, which makes this race even more interesting.

The 8 Mazal Eighteen looks like she will go for the front as well here. She got bumped around at the start last time and tired. She drops from a $7500 claimer to this bottom level and might get back on track.

The 11 Knock Out Kid (8/1 ML) has gone to the front in the past but she hasn’t shown much in her last two starts. She is looking like a mare that will tire as well.

The 12 Risque’s Jewel (5/1 ML) was very wide last out at Penn National and returns home with a chance to win this race. If she can duck behind who I think will be leading, she’s got a great chance here.

Boss Cara (#2, 10/1 ML) rallied around the rail two starts back and last time out was four wide on the turn. She shouldn’t be wide going into the turn (at least you wouldn’t think) but she will be there at the end at nice odds.

I’m going to call this race 12-2-3-8 and my play is $20 to win on the 12. Good luck everyone, and I’ll catch you tomorrow with another Quills Picks Winners.
