“Hearing the national anthem, it definitely hit different,” she said. “It’s like when you go to the Olympics, you’re sitting there, about to get gold put on your neck, the flags are going up, and the anthem is playing. It just hits different.”
This was the quote from WNBA star Brittney Griner after participating in the national anthem following her first game back since her lengthy & well-documented absence from the women’s basketball league.
Normally I wouldn’t preface an intro paragraph with “unless you’ve been living under a rock” when referring to WNBA news. The only people that care about the WNBA are young female athletes, their parents, & the LGBTQIAR2S+- community. Topics surrounding the league & its players tend to not be noteworthy, designated for a “trending” title. But Brittney’s story is very different from the average athlete’s story, male or female, gay or straight, black or white.
No doubt, the fact that she’s a gay, black female factors into her story, and definitely affects the outcome of her story, her’s is more the tale of a spoiled child learning the hard way just how good they have it than any other identity-baiting headlines one will undoubtedly see. While here at Bleacher Brothers Network we whole-heartedly support any citizen who finds their way back to a love & appreciation for their blessings & America, we must also shoot straight on what she said in her interview with Arizona Republic’s Jeff Metcalfe.
But to fully understand her story, we must go back to the Year of our Lord 2020.

Just a little context, Colin Kaepernick was on the back-9 of his career. He had fallen out of favor after producing less & less for the 49ers each, following his Super Bowl loss against the Baltimore Ravens. He had gone from a sports entertainment darling & national news “front-page” material at a historically white position (Quarterback) to the “funnies” or “want ad” sections in the HOA newspaper. He was on his way to obscurity; fame siberia. For a diva like himself, this was unacceptable. He knew he had to do something. Lucky for him, his slampiece had something loaded in the chamber.
WOKE had become a pop-culture sensation. Virtue-signaling became the new handshake for famous people & their underlings. If you didn’t change your profile pic to a black screen or put a rainbow emoticon in your social media bio, you weren’t in an exclusive club of infinite back pats. Kap started dating an Egyptian masquerading as an African American political activist Nessa (a DJ at a local Bay Area hip-hop station), They concocted a plan to get him back into the public consciousness by doing the unthinkable….something unheard of to that point in American history.
He decided to take a proverbial shit on the American Flag on live television. The “Sit Heard ‘Round The World”.
Let’s just ignore the fact that he’s white & was raised by white people. His time as a white person had ended. In fact, it was the white half of him that kept him in chains, while the black half of him was the victim of this atrocity.
And yet somehow, he was able to free himself from his internal, genetic slavery & find success in life. A true Rags & Riches to Riches & I Hate Myself story. Enlisting the help of BLM, he set off a firestorm of divisiveness that is still being felt today. And in the process, he was able to cash in on being the face of this movement; “Godfather of Woke”.
WOKE became the rallying cry for anybody with a complaint. It no longer empowered only those with race-related beef. If you thought BLM was specifically about the liberation of the African American, then like myself, you would be egregiously wrong. While BLM collected money under the guise that it would be redistributed wealth & investing in the black community, the reality is that the ONLY African Americans who got a bite of that SJW cheese from guilty white people were, in fact, the founding women, their baby daddies, their lesbian lovers, and their family.
*Fun Fact: While BLM piggy-backed on the death of St. George, they gave ZERO $$ back to the family of George Floyd.
In fact, their whole goal all along was to enrich the lives of Black trans & Black queer, tear down the foundations of America, and rebuild it in the eyes of Marxist Communism.

It’s openly endorsed in the mission statement on their website:
“Black liberation movements in this countryhave created room, space, andleadership mostly for Black heterosexual, cisgender men — leaving women, queer and transgender people, and others either out of the movement or in the background to move the work forward with little or no recognition. As a network, we have always recognized the need to center the leadership of women and queer and trans people.”
So, if you were a straight, white male who believed in God, you became enemy number one. If you loved America as it has been since we became THE SUPERPOWER after WWII, then you were equally the problem. If you thought putting a litter box out for a child who identifies as a cat (trans species) is absurd, or a queer, white person (German) identifying (pretending to be) black, then latino, then Muslim-Arab (trans racial) is deceiving, or a person who pours bleach in their eyes to make them blind because they believe that’s how they were supposed to be born (transabled) is actually a mentally unhealthy individual, then you were attacked for being a small-minded, prejudice, transphobic, Islamaphobic, homophobic (fill in most useful term), bigoted, white-supremacist, MAGA-loving, Nazi-facist, Republican.

But that’s the point. That’s always been the point.
Because what is the one commonality with all of the aforementioned conditions & name-calling?
They all (apparently) happened on America’s watch.
Therefore, America is the root of all the evil in the world. And the support of this evil country, like standing for the NATIONAL ANTHEM, must come to an end, if we are ever to reach the freedom, modernity, & affluence of other countries; like Russia.
Enter Brittney Griner.
July 27, 2020: Interview with the Arizona Republic
“I honestly feel we should not play the national anthem during our season, I think we should take that much of a stand….I’m going to protest regardless, I’m not going to be out there for the national anthem. If the league continues to want to play it, that’s fine. It will be all season long, I’ll not be out there. I feel like more are going to probably do the same thing. I can only speak for myself….At the Olympics, I understand, you’re playing for your country at that point….I’m glad I’m able to look to my left and to my right at my sisters and see we’re all together fighting,”
