Rising NBA star and Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Anthony “Ant” Edwards is currently embroiled in a personal controversy typical of NBA players, and professional athletes of his ilk. Yes, I’m referring to Tyreek Hill.
Reports have emerged Ant knocked up his Instagram model girlfriend, Paige Jordae. No shocker there.
But what is shocking are the next revelations.
Jordae, in an effort to besmirch this clearly upstanding citizen (who tried to pay a woman money to kill their unborn child so he wouldn’t have to deal with the consequences of not using a rubber for the next 18 years), decided to go scorched-earth. She would post the entirety of their conversations, which discussed how Ant wanted to handle the situation, to social media. The convos reveal the depths to which Edwards would go to make this “problem” disappear, and what looks like Ant trying to pay her $100,000 for proof of her abortion.
Edwards’ response to the news that he was going to be a father was so perfectly typical of those types of men, that ChatGPT couldn’t have responded better to the question “give me the response of a hood basketball player to news he knocked up his stripper girlfriend”:
“Hell naw, can’t do dis”
I shit you not. Those were his exact words when she presented him with the date of her abortion appointment, clearly hinting at support.
“Hell naw, can’t do dis.” Typo and everything.
If you are one of those people who complain about everything, are offended by everything, and find racism in everything, I expect you’ll be throwing a temper-tantrum after reading what I’ve said.
Facts are facts, babe. Look at the data, then get back to me.
Ant is just the latest in the slew of hip-hop/professional athletes getting popped for banging strippers & porn stars….sorry….IG models & OnlyFans models. In fact, if you Google search “OnlyFans model gets pregnant by” you will be flooded with stories about Zion Williamson, Kevin Durant, Antonio Brown, and Tyreek Hill (hard to not notice a trend). I wasn’t brave enough to try the search with rappers, fearing my MacBook might explode.
What we should be sorry about is the way Ant (and others) handled the situation.
The shared messages depict the typical entitled reaction from immature males involving pregnancy news and their future baby mamas. Ant would urge Jordae to terminate the pregnancy, rejecting the notion of becoming a father and his intention to financially support the abortion process, but no more.
Throughout their exchange, Edwards was what his lawyers will call “persistent”, even bullying Jordae to send him a video as proof of her taking the abortion medication. Despite her compliance and sending the video, Edwards did not respond, holding onto his $100k as collateral and indicating that his attorney would take over the matter.
Paige’s last post shared evidence of Edwards sending her an online transfer of $100k.
At 22, Edwards, who often refers to his dogs as his family, is trending upwards, professionally. He is currently a key player for the Minnesota Timberwolves and one of the rising stars in the NBA, averaging 24.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists over 21 games this season. While his career trajectory may be on an upward path, this off-court issue has brought unwanted attention to his personal life, potentially affecting his focus on his burgeoning NBA career.
