Junior wide receiver LaJohntay Wester of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has announced his entry into the transfer portal on Friday, Dec. 15, shared via his social media account on X.

He has not been shy in being his own hype-man, touting offers from Arkansas, Pitt, and Colorado (just to name a few).

During his time at FAU, Wester amassed an impressive 2,703 yards in receiving and scored 21 touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed 213 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Wester’s last season saw him reach a career-best 1,168 receiving yards while matching his career-high of eight touchdowns in a season. He also achieved a personal high of 97.3 receiving yards per game.

In his career at FAU, Wester accumulated 290 yards in kick returns and 632 yards in punt returns. Notably, he scored his first collegiate punt return touchdown against the University of South Florida this past season.

His performances with the Owls earned him a spot on the All-AAC First Team Offense and Athlon Magazine honored him with Third-Team punt returner & Fourth-Team accolades. He also received Third-Team Special Teams honors by Phil Steele’s Magazine.

Wester was one of the standout wide receivers in the Group of Five, with a national rank of No. 2 in receptions at 108 and 11th in the FBS for his 1,168 receiving yards. He also secured eight touchdowns, tying his career-high, while averaging 10.8 yards per catch.

Despite FAU’s 4-8 season record and missing out on a bowl game, Wester was a key player, leading the team in receiving yards. The 5-foot-11, 167-pound receiver had exceptional performances against Clemson and Illinois, surpassing 100 receiving yards in each game.

His most remarkable game of the season was against UAB, where he recorded 11 catches for 219 yards and three touchdowns, along with a rushing touchdown.

It will be interesting to see what team Wester picks. Word is he has some pretty high demands for whichever team he chooses. More on that later.

Will the move to a Power 5 school help or hurt Wester’s 2025 NFL Draft stock?
