The 2023 college football season concludes with a series of 14 thrilling bowl games. The final games of the year will begin December 29th and will culminate on January 8th, with the crowning of the College Football Playoff national champion at NRG Stadium, Houston, Texas.
This season’s semifinals of the College Football Playoff are set for the only global holiday we have, “Planet Earth Hangover Day” (otherwise known as “New Year’s Day”). The Rose Bowl will see a clash between #1 Michigan v. #4 Alabama, while the Sugar Bowl features #2 Washington v. #3 Texas, marking the fourth occasion these bowls serve as semi-finals since the CFP began in 2014.
Notably, this 2023-24 bowl season is the final one with a four-team CFP format, as an expanded 12-team playoff is set to debut after the 2024 season. And I cannot effin’ wait. More on that later.
The one bowl game I have my alarm set for is the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl showcasing a matchup between my Notre Dame Fighting Irish & the Beavers of Oregon State. Sorry ASU. Be relevant and I promise I’ll set the batwatch, hopefully sometime in this decade, but I’m not holding my breath. Always the safe play for fans of Arizona sports.
