AAC Championship Rd 2: North Texas 81 – Tulane 71

North Texas

FORT WORTH, TX.- It’s been a very eventful start of the American Athletic Conference Tournament.

In the past three games today (March 14), we’ve seen upsets, shootouts and games that have gone down to the wire. Teams have risen to the occasion, and some couldn’t handle the pressure.

In tonight’s matchup between Tulane and North Texas, both teams traded blows while displaying elite defensive fortitude. Both the Green Wave and the Mean Green were lethal inside the paint, and behind the three point line. This elite matchup was a low scoring affair, as neither either team went on a deep run. Throughout the contest, the tides kept turning, showing that it was anyone’s game.

North Texas’s CJ Noland recorded 23 Points, 4 Rebounds and 5 Assists. Noland was 4/9 from the field, knocking down 3 three pointers, and recording a poster dunk.

On the other side of the court, Tulane’s Sion James was elite tonight, recording 28 points and 10 rebounds. During his double-double performance, James was 11-15 from the field, knocking down 3 three pointers. Unfortunately for Tulane, this impressive performance wasn’t enough to will the Green Wave to victory.

North Texas defeated Tulane 81-71. The Mean Green will advance to play Florida Atlantic tomorrow. Tip off is slated for 7:00 P.M.
