Phillies Sweep Marlins 2-0

The Philadelphia Phillies finished off the wild-card round with a blowout 7-1 winover the Miami Marlins for the fourth sweep in four MLB wild-card series. The win ends the Marlins season.

Home runs had the Citizens Bank Park crowd rockin’. J.T. Realmuto hit a solo shot in the fourth to stretch the Phillies’ lead to 3-0. Then Bryson Stott slammed the door shut on the Marlins with a grand slam in the sixth.

Stott blasted his grand slam off Marlins’ lefty Andrew Nardi in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 7-0, lifting the Phillies past Miami and into a National League Division Series rematch with the Braves starting on Saturday.

Aaron Nola, threw seven shoutout innings, giving up 3 hits, with 3 strikeouts and a walk in the win.

Trea Turner and Realmuto both collected 2 hits for the Phillies.

Often injured Marlins releif pitcher and former Phillies closer David Robertson pitched 2 innings giving up 2 hits and 2 runs.

Red October is off to a smashing start!

The Phillies joined Minnesota, Arizona and Texas as the teams that swept all four Wild Card Series. There have been seven sweeps including the Phillies over St. Louis last season, in the eight Wild Card Series during the first two years of expanded playoffs.
