Tuesday 4/2/24 – Parx Race 6

Happy Tuesday everyone! We stay at Parx for Tuesday’s Quills Picks Winners, and today, we have 8 three-year-old maiden claiming fillies going six furlongs today. Post time for today’s race is set for approximately 2:59 pm Eastern time.

We do have rain in the forecast for the Philadelphia area, so expect a sloppy track, which was something I failed to mention with yesterday’s article. It rained until midday on Monday. Granted with yesterday’s race, it didn’t really matter, but yes, I like to give our readers here at Bleacher Brothers and the QPW as much information I can.

Favored in today’s race is the 5 Steal the Deal (3/1 morning line) who is shortening to six furlongs after running a mile the last two times out. She is winless in eight starts lifetime, 0 for 2 on wet tracks, and his sire Boisterous only has 8% winners (9 for 110) from his offspring on wet tracks.

The 3 Save the Mischief (7/2 ML) looks very interesting to me. Yes, the four races that she ran in Kentucky were horrible. There appears to be a private sale of this horse with brings her to Parx today. Maybe she needed a different place to run? Maybe she needed to mature some? Trainer Jamie Ness wins 29% with horses running for the first time in his stable, and Into Mischief’s offspring wins 18% of the time (374 of 2024). If you believe in a little logic and some analytics, this could be your horse here.

The 8 Miss Ambrocio (8/1 ML) is a first-time starter here who will have a five-pound apprentice (jockey who just started his career riding horses) who has already has 34 wins at Parx and 43 overall so far in 2024. She draws the outside, but it will be interesting to see where she will be placed.

The 7 Be My Queen (5/1 ML) won a VERY slow six furlong race in her debut on a day where times most of the day were excruciatingly slow. (Note: Uncle Ernie ran 5 seconds faster than Be My Queen…look for him next time out?) I expect this filly to be ready for her second start and I highly doubt she runs a 1:17 for this distance today.  She did get bumped around early on, which could be because it was her first time at the races.

I think that Be My Queen will have a cleaner trip. She had a horrendous start that could explain why she didn’t have anything left at the end yet finishing second. She stumbled and was very green bumping around. I think that will clear up today and she will hold off Miss Ambrocio and Save the Mischief. I will call this 7-8-3-5 and my play is $20 to win on the 7. Good luck everyone!
