Santa Anita Race 8 – China Doll Stakes

Happy Sunday everyone, and I hope that everyone not in the states of Arizona and Hawaii moved their clocks forward an hour early this morning, because we now have the sun setting an hour later. Also, it means that Santa Anita appears to be starting their card today at 4 pm Eastern, and their featured race the China Doll Stakes will be at 7:11 pm Eastern time today.

We have six three-year-old fillies going a mile on the turf here in what appears to be a wide-open race. Favored is the 5 Medoro (2/1 ML) who won other of her starts in December before taking a bit of a break before returning today. She has a great kick here and will be looking to pass by the other fillies in the stretch.

The 6 Zona Verde (5/2 ML) goes back to the one mile distance after running down the hill and having traffic troubled in the stretch. She won’t have as many horses in this race, so the chances of not having any traffic troubles are better.

The 4 Antifona (5/2 ML) closed on the outside to win the race that Zona Verde had traffic issues.  She makes the transition back to the mile distance and should be there once again.

The 2 Mo Fox Givin (4/1 ML) won an optional claimer last time out and will be looking to make her late kick as well, which will make the end of this race very exciting.

Visually (#1, 12/1 ML) appears to be the speed in this race but does appear that she will drop anchor in the stretch. The 3 Girl of My Dreams (8/1 ML) does appear that she will go with the 1 and create targets for the closer.

This should be a great race with the great finish, just like yesterday’s “Unusual” Tampa Bay Derby. I think Zona Verdewill have a clearer run and win this over Mo Fox Givin. I’m calling this 6-2-5-4 and my play is $20 to win on the 6.Good luck everyone!
