Who is the fastest F1 team after qualifying 

Q1 Recap

After three days of testing the F1 did their preseason testing and three practice sessions are the first qualifying session of the 2024 F1 season is underway in Bahrain. During qualifying it was a windy one with winds at 45 kph which is 27.962 mph which means it is extremely windy there. The green light came on at 1900 local time for the first cars to go out to qualify.

The first two teams that went out were the Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc then two Alpine cars of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly all of which went on medium compound tires. Sainz set the target time of one minute and 31 point 208 seconds. For the two Alpine cars of Ocon and Gasly both of the drivers got the lap times deleted for track limits.

Shortly after that six drivers came out with the soft tires the teams are the Red Bull, a Mclaren, a Mercedes, an Aston Martin and Haas came out and set times the first driver to cross the line of the six drivers is defending champion Max Versterpaan and he set a time of one minute 30.031 seconds.

Teams Knocked out of Q1

The Kick Sauber team had both of their cars knocked out and the drivers of Valtteri Bottas of Finland  and Zhou Guanyu of China after a wild and crazy moment at the final corner of the track. Logan Sargeant of Williams was also knocked out of Q1 was four tenths off his team Alexander Albion. Both Alpine cars of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly also got knocked out, the lap time they had deleted hurt both of them.

Ferrari fastest in Q2

With the second segment underway we see so far the McLaren has set the time to beat with a one minute and 29 point 374 second lap time on a used set of soft tires for McLearn’s driver Lando Norris. The fastest team was Ferrari during this segment, setting a time of one minute and 29.165 seconds lap by Charles Leclerc. The top six for the end of this qualifying round were the four different teams fighting for top spots Leclerc,Verstappen,Sainz,Alonso, Hulkenberg and Russell finished this segment in Q2 as the top 6 drivers. As you can see we have the Ferraris RedBull, an Aston Martin, a Mercedes and a Haas car being the fastest six cars.

People knocked out of Q2

Albon,Ricciardo and Magnussen are the slowest ones that got knocked out of Q2 running 13th,14th and 15th respectively. Yuki Tsunoda was knocked out by Oscar Piastri by 0.007 seconds that how close Tsunoda was to making it into Q3. The other driver that got knocked out was Lance Stroll of the Aston Martin team.

Fight for the finish

There was a mixture of old and new soft compounds going into Q3 for all the teams left the first person who hit the time sheets is the RedBull of Max Verstappen with a one minute 29.421 second lap time putting him ahead of Charles Leclerc with George Russell being third.

One lap only Alonso

The oldest driver on the grid Fernando Alonso did only one lap during this segment and had him third quickest before every car went out. But after all the cars that went out Fernando Alonso got a sixth place out of it.

MeLaren finishes 7th and 8th with Haas being 10th
Despite going out early the McLaren only had Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri get seventh and eighth on the grid. Nico Hulkenberg of the Haas and American team ended up in tenth place.

What to come

The F1 race at Bahrain is set to kick off at 1800 local time Saturday night which is early in the morning in the US. We will see if Max Verstappen can continue his streak of winning or we will see a new winner to start the season.
