FAU vs. Stonehill Series Preview

Stonehill at FAU, March 1-3

FAU welcomes in Stonehill after two disappointing results earlier this week. The Owls have dropped back to back games against in-state opponents UCF and UNF. The Owls look to shake off those losses and bounce back and earn a series win against Stonehill.

The Owls will have all three of their starting pitchers who pitched in the series sweep over Towson available this weekend. C.J. Williams gets the first start on Friday, with Trey Beard following up on Saturday, and Tyler Murphy to round out the series on Sunday. After giving up 19 runs over the last two games, these are exactly the guys the Owls want on the mound this weekend.

For the Owls offense, Brando Leroux looks to stay hot at the plate. Leroux goes into the series this Friday with a .419 batting average, and is coming off of a three hit performance on Wednesday against UNF. Carter Brady also looks to keep up his offensive success, after coming up big for the Owls against UNF, despite the loss. Emilio Gonzalez also looks to keep up his production at the plate, he’s tallied six hits in his last four games.

Both Stonehill and FAU enter the series this weekend with a record with a .500 win/loss percentage. Stonehill comes to Boca Raton with a 2-2 record, evening out their record with a win over Bryant on Tuesday. FAU after dropping their last two games, come in with a 4-4 record. The Owls look to get some wins back this weekend before they hit the road for a game against the currently #4 ranked Florida Gators.

C.J. Williams will look to lead the Owls to a win Friday night. He’ll look to somewhat replicate his start against Towson, and dominate the Stonehill lineup. The offense looks to continue to put up runs, after scoring 12 the last two games. If the Owls pitching staff limits runs like they did against Towson, there’s no reason FAU shouldn’t come out this weekend with a series win, or a series sweep.
