After a series loss at home to UAB this past weekend, FAU looks to get back on track with their second straight win at home in their midweek matchup tomorrow versus Florida Gulf Coast. Both the Owls and Eagles come into this game with 23-22 records, with the Eagles holding a 15-9 record in the A-SUN while the Owls hold a 10-11 record in AAC conference play. While this game won’t have any conference implications, this game can be a great momentum builder for the rest of the regular season.

The Owls offense had bright spots from John Schroeder and Carter Brady last weekend against UAB. in a series that saw the Owls score only seven runs, Brady and Schroeder were pivotal in obtaining those runs, especially in the series finale with Carter Brady’s two-run walk-off single. The two will be looked at to spark the offense yet again in the game against the Eagles.

Florida Gulf Coast is coming fresh off of a series sweep over Jacksonville in conference play. Winning two of those games by one run, the Eagles proved their ability to close out close games recently. Scoring at least nine runs in two out of three games in the series, limiting hits and runs is going to be extra crucial for this Owls pitching staff. After a long weekend of work they’ll look to get back on track as well.

FAU could really use some momentum before traveling to Houston this weekend to take on conference opponent Rice. With Rice around the bottom of the AAC standings it provides FAU another opportunity to get some wins and possibly move up the conference standings to a second or third place spot.

With both of these squads sporting 23-22 records, they’re both looking to pick up any win possible. With the all-time series between these two at 16-16, this is a big game to take for bragging rights heading into the next matchup between these two in-state rivals.
