Francis Ngannou Looking To Shake Off Knockout Loss

Francis Ngannou was on the receiving end of a knockout in his last boxing match against Anthony Joshua. The knockout made shockwaves in the boxing world and had people once again discussing if MMA fighters would ever be able to step into the boxing ring and be as successful. Of course, that conversation led to some people wondering if Ngannou would continue his attempt to box.

A reporter asked about the loss to Joshua, to which Ngannou said, “It didn’t go our way. I remember being in the locker, trying to warm up. It wasn’t going. I was falling asleep.” He later said that he was the “only one that didn’t show up” to the fight and blamed himself for the defeat. However, he made sure to state that he isn’t going anywhere. He’s got an upcoming fight scheduled already against Renan Ferreira soon. On top of that, he has plans to fight Deontay Wilder if possible. The reporter questioned if he would be willing to take on Wilder, to which he said, “Yes of course. I’m a fighter. We’re here to fight, and when it comes to fighting, whenever it’s time to fight, we go and fight. The journey is on. We are not done yet.”

Joshua Folded Francis Ngannou

Joshua and Ngannou faced off on March 8th in Saudi Arabia at the Kingdom Arena. They were the main event, but it didn’t last very long. In the first two minutes, Ngannou looked like he was coming out strong. That also didn’t last long as Joshua quickly figured out what Ngannou was attempting to do and took full advantage of it in the second round. A brutal right hander from Joshua sent Ngannou straight to the ground, but he was able to just narrowly beat the count. From that point on, Joshua knew that he had him, and pushed the envelope up until he connected on another devastating right hander that knocked Ngannou out and ended the fight.

While it is very disappointing for Ngannou, this was another statement win from Joshua, who just continues to impress each and every fight that he competes in.
