Dillian Whyte Plans To Return To Heavyweight Contention

Whyte

By Nick Martinez

Dillian Whyte had stepped away from boxing back in November of 2022 after grappling with issues that occurred outside of the ring. One of those issues included a positive drug test. Once it was revealed that the positive test was simply a contaminated supplement, Whyte was able to get back into the ring, and now he plans to return to peak form.

Whyte was cleared to return for a fight against Christian Hammer this past weekend. The heavyweight battle was as exciting as you could expect, but it didn’t last very long. Whyte had cleaned the fight up and forced it to end by the fourth round. He had been in control the entire fight, and it wasn’t until Hammer’s corner chose to throw in the towel before the fourth round even began.

Dillian Whyte Has Had A Great Career So Far

Whyte

Dillian Whyte has now improved his overall boxing record to 30-3 with 20 knockouts to his name. What’s interesting is that his three losses came at the hands of a few other incredible boxers. Those losses were from Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Alexander Povetkin. Though, it’s worth noting that Whyte got a rematch with Povetkin in particular and defeated him in that second battle. Whyte almost got a rematch with Joshua as well, though failed a drug test in the week of the fight.

It’s unbelievably impressive that he was able to fight off all of the adversity thrown his way and still return to the ring in a big way. Of course, he isn’t immediately back into heavyweight contention already, but it’s certainly a start. There’s no question that he’s going to continue marching forward in this comeback, with plans to take his game to another level. The 35-year-old boxer is a testament to resiliency and commitment, and it makes this victory over Hammer all the more special.
