Three Straight Bets & Three Prop Bets For The MLB Slate – 7/3/24

Straight Bets

Houston Astros at Toronto Blue Jays

Ronel Blanco (8-3) vs. Yusei Kikuchi (4-8)

Astros -1.5

Ronel Blanco has a chance to lead the Astros to another win today in Toronto. It’s also another chance for the Astros to cover the spread with plus odds. Kikuchi has a 4.30 ERA at home and Blanco on the other hand has a 2.36 ERA on the road. After a tough one run loss, the Astros look to bounce back with their guy on the mound. They’re 8-0 in Blanco’s last eight starts following a loss in their previous game.

Baltimore Orioles at Seattle Mariners

Dean Kremer (3-4) vs. Logan Gilbert (5-4)

Over 7.0 Runs Scored

Kremer in his last road start gave up five earned and with a low line like seven runs, is worth taking with how good Baltimore’s offense is. The over is 4-0 in Kremer’s last four road starts. Despite Logan Gilbert’s low ERA at home of 2.70, the Orioles tend to put up more runs in game two of a series recently and tonight could be very similar.

San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves

Jordan Hicks (4-4) vs. Chris Sale (10-3)

Braves -1.5

The Braves are coming off of a tough loss and look to get back on track with Chris Sale on the mound tonight. Sale and the Braves are 7-1 in his last eight starts at home. Sale since mid-June has been very good on the mound, and if the Braves offense can get to Jordan Hicks, the spread could be a great play.

Player Props

Cincinnati Reds at New York Yankees

Andrew Abbott (7-6) vs. Carlos Rodon (9-5)

Andrew Abbott Over 15.5 Outs Recorded

The Yankees are battling a rough stretch of the season and Andrew Abbott looks to capitalize further on that. Abbott recently this season has been a consistent 5.0 inning or more starter, and there’s only been one start where he hasn’t gone at least 5.0 innings pitched. With a struggling Yankees offense, the over 15.5 outs is a solid play.

New York Mets at Washington Nationals

Christian Scott (0-2) vs. Mitchell Parker (5-4)

Christian Scott Over 4.5 Strikeouts

Christian Scott is making his first start in the majors since May, and looks to improve upon his last big league stint. Towards the end of that stint he was allowing less hits but the strikeout numbers hovered around three to four. However when he made his first starts in the bigs he struck out eight in one outing and six in another. With this being his first outing in the majors in over a month, the momentum could help him fan more batters this time around.

Milwaukee Brewers at Colorado Rockies

Colin Rea (7-2) vs. Dakota Hudson (2-11)

Christian Yelich o1.5 Total Bases

At Coors Field, taking a prop bet on a veteran hitter like Christian Yelich is always a good play. When it comes to Yelich in this series, he’s had multiple hits in every game, clearing this line of 1.5. With a 2-11 right handed Dakota Hudson on the mound, Yelich has another shot to have another great night at the plate.
