Yankees vs. Dodgers: World Series Game 5 Best Bets

The Yankees fended off elimination last night to force a Game 5, with their ace Gerrit Cole on the mound for his second start of the Fall Classic. In the final game at Yankee Stadium this season, the Bronx Bombers will look to go out and force a Game 6, moving this series back to Los Angeles. The Dodgers on the other hand will be looking to end the series here, and hoist the trophy in enemy territory.

Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Yankees

Jack Flaherty (1-2) vs. Gerrit Cole (1-0)

Under 8.5 Runs Scored (-115) 1u

After a very high scoring Game 4, the Dodgers go with a very good starter in Jack Flaherty and as previously mentioned, Gerrit Cole will take the mound again for a Game 1 rematch. This is the type of game the Yankees paid Cole for and he needs to step up tonight. Especially after going 88 pitches in Game 1, one would think Cole will be leaving it all out there tonight, to provide the Yankees with what needs to be one of if not his best start all season.

Flaherty worked his offspeed stuff in his Game 1 start. He nearly generated 20 swing-and-misses from the Yankee offense in his outing and if he’s on again tonight, the under should look good to hit.

Yankees Player Props:

Gerrit Cole Over 16.5 Outs (-150) 1u

This is a very easy prop to go to tonight. The Yankee bullpen needs Cole to go the distance tonight, and he should at least be looking to go seven innings. If he can do that he’ll clear this line. The only issue is he hasn’t been the best at Yankee Stadium in this postseason. He hasn’t gone more than five innings pitched in a single start this postseason, but that needs to change tonight.

Anthony Rizzo Over 0.5 Hits (-150) 1u

We’re going back to this prop after Rizzo recorded a hit in Flaherty’s last start during Game 1. Against Flaherty he has a .435 batting average now with a 1.436 OPS. While his total base prop could be an interesting play as well with better value, the over 0.5 hit prop seems like the safer pick for Rizzo.

Alex Verdugo Over 0.5 Hits (-150) 1u

Another good prop pick for tonight would be one of the more productive bats at Yankee Stadium in this World Series. Verdugo had two huge RBI in last night’s game and seems to be seeing the ball well with a home run back at the end of Game 3. With a .333 batting average against Flaherty, we’ll take him as another prop for the Yankees tonight.

Anthony Volpe Over 0.5 Stolen Bases (+360) 0.3u

Volpe may have just had his breakout game last night with his season saving grand slam. While his numbers against Flaherty in a very small sample size aren’t great, if he gets on due to even a walk or a hit-by-pitch, he’ll surely be looking to steal. With +360 odds on this prop we’ll lower the amount to risk on this one, but it’s definitely worth taking.

Dodgers Player Props:

Jack Flaherty Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+125) 1u

Unless Flaherty gets shelled tonight he should hit the over on this line. When he gives up runs he typically records less than three strikeouts in this postseason but when he’s on, he’s consistently put up six strikeouts. While taking the under, this is a good prop to take with that at plus odds.

Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125) 1u

There’s great value for a prop that’s hit so easily in every game of this World Series. Freeman has been the Yankees biggest nightmare and Gerrit Cole is certainly not going to back down from pitching to him. While Cole has the stuff to shut down his bat, Freeman has a .348 batting average against him in 23 at bats. There isn’t a better hitter on the planet right now than Freddie Freeman, and we’ll continue to take this prop until it misses.

Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110) 1u

The Dodgers have been getting the most out of Mookie Betts this postseason. He’s picked it up especially in this World Series with four hits in the last three games. Coming off of an extra base hit last night, Betts will be looking to do damage in an attempt to close this series out. With a .350 average against Cole in 20 at bats, this is another solid prop to take from this relentless Dodgers order.
