After Carlos Rodon’s fantastic series opening start last night, the Yankees welcomed Gerrit Cole back to the mound for his first start at Yankee Stadium since Game 1 of the ALDS against Kansas City. Facing Tanner Bibee tonight, the Yankee offense will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead while Cleveland will look to have some bounce back pitching performances tonight.
Cleveland Guardians at New York Yankees
Tanner Bibee (0-0) vs. Gerrit Cole (1-0)
Yankees Moneyline
With their ace on the mound tonight, fading the Yankees might not be the best idea. The Guardians hit for a .236 batting average against Gerrit Cole, with only one hitter in the lineup currently with over a .300 batting average against the 2023 AL Cy Young Award winner.
For that reason we’ll take the Yankees here in game two with their best arm on the mound to take a much needed 2-0 lead in this Championship Series.
Yankees Player Props:
Gerrit Cole Over 17.5 Outs
Cole cannot go out there at Yankee Stadium tonight and perform the way he did against Kansas City in that ALDS opener. He needs to be his Game 4 ALDS self and he knows the room for error at this point is closing in. After a strong seven inning outing last time against the Royals, our first prop will be Cole to go at least 18 outs tonight.
Juan Soto Over 1.5 Total Bases
The matchup is favorable here with a right handed Tanner Bibee on the mound. Soto has a hit and a walk to his name in a couple of at bats against Bibee, and after his huge Game 1, he’ll look to continue to haunt Guardians pitching. At +125 consensus odds, there’s great value here again.
Gleyber Torres Over 0.5 Singles
Torres has been a blessing out of the leadoff spot for this New York lineup. Coming off of back to back games with singles, it seems like Torres is looking to hit for less power, rather to just get on base and let the heavy hitters do the hard work. With better value here with taking a single combined with the lack of extra base hits, Torres to record a single is our final Yankees prop for this ALCS Game 2.
Guardians Player Props:
Tanner Bibee Over 13.5 Outs
Bibee failed to make it into the fifth inning in both starts in the ALDS against the Tigers. Against a Yankee lineup that hasn’t seen him as often as that Tigers lineup has, he’s due for a better start tonight. While multiple Yankees hitters have got to Bibee before, he should be able to clear this 13.5 out line.
Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases
As alluded to previously, Jose Ramirez is the only bat in this Guardians lineup with a successful history against Gerrit Cole. In 34 at bats against the Yankees ace, Ramirez has hit for a .353 batting average and a 1.129 OPS with six extra base hits. He’s been rather lackluster this postseason, but tonight he’s set up in prime position to at least try to help this Guardians lineup put together some runs.
