Tonight’s slate features multiple important divisional matchups. With the Yankees able to clinch the American League East tonight and the Padres continuing their push towards a possible National League West title, those games will be the bulk of our picks today.
Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees
Zach Eflin (10-9) vs. Nestor Cortes (9-10)
3 Picks: Yankees Moneyline, Juan Soto Over 0.5 Hits & Anthony Volpe Over 0.5 Hits
With the Orioles coming off of a postseason clinching win in Yankee Stadium, there could be a bit of a hangover coming into game two. The Orioles lineup struggles against Nestor Cortes, hitting for a .206 batting average and a .519 OPS in 131 at bats against the Yankees left hander.
He’s held some of Baltimore’s best bats to horrible statlines against him, with known power threats Gunnar Henderson and Anthony Santander both hitting for sub-.120 batting averages in at least 10 at bats. That ultimately makes the first play for this possible division clinching game, the Yankees on the moneyline.
The second group of picks are both hit props for a couple Yankee hitters who have great numbers against Zach Eflin. Juan Soto in 34 total at bats against Eflin has a .500 batting average with 17 hits and 10 RBI.
Anthony Volpe is the last pick for this game tonight, as in 16 at bats against Eflin he’s recorded five hits and three RBI.
Odds for all 3 in a SGP: +322
New York Mets at Atlanta Braves
David Peterson (9-3) vs. Chris Sale (18-3)
Francisco Lindor Over 0.5 Singles
The Mets and the Braves are playing a pivotal series full of postseason implications as the regular season winds down. The Braves need a big start here from their 2024 National Cy Young Chris Sale, and the Mets need one from David Peterson as well.
This honestly makes predicting an outcome to this game difficult, and for that we’ll stick to just one player prop pick given he is able to play today.
Lindor over the course of his career is quite familiar with left hander Chris Sale, and he’s put up great numbers across 34 at bats. He’s recorded 14 hits in those 34 at bats for a .412 batting average against Sale. However, with just four of those hits being extra base hits and Lindor still being day-to-day for the Mets, taking him to record a single seems like a safer pick.
San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers
Dylan Cease (14-11) vs. Jack Flaherty (13-7)
3 Picks: Padres Moneyline (+116), Will Smith Under 0.5 Hits & Jurickson Profar Over 0.5 Hits
Tonight’s final game on the slate gives us arguably the best pitching matchup of the night with Dylan Cease taking on Jack Flaherty. The first pick for this game tonight, is the Padres straight on the moneyline at plus odds.
With Cease holding the Dodgers lineup to a .235 batting average in 68 total at bats, taking the better arm here at plus odds is great value.
Will Smith has been on a streak hitting-wise where after a game of hitting he seems to go silent at the plate for the next. Coming off of two hits in his previous game and facing Dylan Cease who struck him out five times in seven at bats, his under 0.5 hits is the second pick for this game.
When looking at the Padres against Jack Flaherty, they’ve performed well over the course of 54 at bats. Jurickson Profar in particular has a .500 batting average in eight at bats against Flaherty. Coming into this game with a four game hit streak, Profar to tally a hit is the last pick for this game.
