Arizona Diamondbacks at Miami Marlins
Eduardo Rodriguez (1-0) vs. Edward Cabrera (2-4)
Over 7.5 Total Runs Scored + Edward Cabrerea Over 2.5 Walks
After getting swept by the Tampa Bay Rays, the Arizona Diamondbacks came out and won the series opener at Loan Depot Park. They’ll look to take game two, and cover some ground in the division as the Padres and Dodgers aren’t letting up. With Edward Cabrera on the mound for Miami today, there should be multiple opportunities to get runs. In four of the last five starts Cabrera’s thrown, the final score has reached over 7.5 runs. Against a tough Arizona offense, it’ll be difficult to limit the runs.
Edward Cabrera has had a tough time at limiting the walks this season. He has a 5.3 BB/9 rate and since July 19th, Cabrera has four starts with more than 2.5 walks. It’s an even less favorable matchup, against the Diamondbacks who walk the fourth most of any team in the league.
Baltimore Orioles at New York Mets
Dean Kremer (5-9) vs. Jose Quintana (6-8)
Over 8.5 Total Runs Scored + Ryan Mountcastle Over 1.5 Total Bases
Today’s matchup following Francisco Alvarez’s walk off last night, screams the over. Two pitchers on the mound to start with ERA’s over 4.00, and tough hitters on both sides makes it seem like we’re due for some runs today. Ryan Mountcastle should be one of the players to help add some runs to the board tonight. He has a good history against Quintana, with an extra base hit in four at bats. From the right handed batters box, this is a favorable matchup for Mountcastle facing low velocity, as well as other hitters like Adley Rutschman and Anthony Santander.
Minnesota Twins at San Diego Padres
Bailey Ober RHP (12-5) vs. Martin Perez (3-5)
Twins -1.5 + Royce Lewis Over 0.5 Home Runs
The Twins are looking to bounce back in San Diego today with a very favorable matchup for their right handed hitters. Ober has been great lately going seven innings or more in multiple starts recently. He should help provide the cushion to help the offense obtain a larger lead.
Royce Lewis hasn’t hit a home run in seven games, and is very due with the Martin Perez matchup today. Not only is Perez a lefty pitching to a right handed Royce Lewis, but Perez also has posted a 2.0 HR/9 rate in three starts with San Diego in 2024. The dry spell could end tonight for Lewis, and he’s the best pick here from the Twins lineup.
