Subpar Shot Troubles: Inter Miami CF draws 1-1 with Charlotte FC

Miami, FL.- Tonight (September 28) Inter-Miami CF hosted Charlotte FC in a thrilling affair.

Inter-Miami, the clear cut #1 seed in the MLS Eastern Conference dominated tonight’s match. Every play, Inter was applying pressure offensively, methodically passing between their superstars.

Unfortunately for Inter-Miami, the entire club looked “just a step off”. Whether it was setting plays, passing or shooting, Inter-Miami couldn’t connect. Throughout the first half, Miami dominated the pitch, controlling the ball primarily on their side. Like I said, shots were plentiful, but not bountiful.

Despite controlling the entirety of the first 45 minutes of the match, Inter-Miami entered halftime tied with Charlotte 0-0.

Midway through the second half, Charlotte capitalized off an uncalled foul, setting a fast break. As they pushed the ball down the pitch, Karol Świnderski connected a shot on goal, taking a 1-0 lead. (1-0 CFC ’57)

Ten minutes of game time later, Lionel Messi did his thing. As Inter-Miami moved the ball around the top of the box, Leo hit a beautiful strike that soared into the goal untouched. As soon as the ball left Messi’s foot, everyone in the stadium knew it was a goal. (1-1 ’67).

Throughout the remainder of the game, Inter-Miami kept applying pressure offensively, but still couldn’t secure another goal. After ten minutes of added time, Inter-Miami drew with Charlotte FC 1-1.

After the post-match statistics were revealed, Inter-Miami controlled the ball for 61% of tonight’s match, pulling 21 shots, only securing the lone goal. As we near the MLS Playoffs, this will surely be a problem that will be resolved immediately.

Inter-Miami still stands atop the Eastern Conference leaderboard with 65 points. They will now travel to Columbus, Ohio to face the Columbus Crew on Wednesday, October 2nd. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 P.M.
