Top Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov has requested a trade and will not report to the team’s AHL affiliate, ESPN reported Monday.
The 2020 first-round draft pick’s career path is blocked in Nashville, where veteran starter Juuse Saros signed an eight-year, $61.92 million extension in July.
Askarov, 22, has played in 92 games over the past two seasons with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals, compiling a record of 56-29-6 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average.
He made three appearances (two starts) with the Predators during that span, going 1-1-0 with a 2.58 GAA and .914 save percentage.
