Gustav Nyquist had a goal and an assist as the Nashville Predators extended their point streak to 13 games, defeating the host Winnipeg Jets 4-2 on Wednesday.

Kiefer Sherwood, Filip Forsberg and Jason Zucker also scored for the Predators. Roman Josi had two assists, while Juuse Saros, Cole Smith, Colton Sissons and Ryan McDonagh also picked up helpers. Saros stopped 28 shots in the win.

Alex Iafallo and Mason Appleton provided the Jets’ offense, while Brenden Dillon, Vladislav Namestnikov, Dylan Samberg and Colin Miller, who had his first point with the Jets, got assists. Connor Hellebuyck made 34 saves.

Josi made a long pass down the boards to Nyquist, who gave the Predators a 1-0 lead at 6:38 of the first period. It was a rare goalie point, with Saros collecting an assist.

Nashville added to its lead thanks to another nimble move by Josi, who found Sherwood open and he fired a shot past Hellebuyck with 5:28 remaining in the opening frame.

The Predators took a 2-0 lead into the second period and despite outshooting the Jets 19-7 in the middle frame, they couldn’t add to their lead.

Nashville didn’t take long to add to its lead in the third. Nyquist made a slick drop pass to Forsberg in front of the net and he scored to make it 3-0 at 1:29 of the period.

Zucker made it 4-0 just 22 seconds later, scoring his first goal with the Predators from just beyond the crease.

Iafallo broke the shutout with 6:48 remaining in the contest. Appleton trimmed the Jets’ deficit to 4-2 with 11 seconds left in the game, scoring on a power play.

Jets center Mark Scheifele missed the game due to an illness.
