Stanley Cup Final – Game 6 Recap: Oilers 5 – Panthers 1

Edmonton- The Gatos did not Vamos tonight.

Tonight’s Stanley Cup Finals Game 6 did NOT go Florida’s way. The Panthers had the opportunity to put this series on ice (pun intended).

The game opened with a dominant first period from the Oilers. Edmonton’s defense suffocated the Florida offense, as the Cats only put two shots up during the first. On the flip side, Warren Foegele cracked the scoreboard first for the Oilers (12:33 1 Per.)

Following the first intermission, Edmonton immediately struck again, as Adam Henrique put the puck in the net within the first minute of play.

Florida appeared to have a solution, as Aleksander Barkov immediately put a retaliation goal up, however, after an Edmonton challenge, the Panthers had a player offsides and the goal was waved off.

Edmonton continued their feeding frenzy late in the second as Zach Hyman hit a fast break goal, seemingly breaking the Panthers’ spirits.

Less than two minutes into the third, Barkov finds the goal again (this time for real), as the Panthers cut the Oilers’ lead 3-1.

After spending the majority of the third on missed opportunities, the Panthers pull Bobrovsky for empty net play, but Edmonton immediately cashed two goals in within 25 seconds.

Once again, Florida couldn’t put it together during Power Play as the Cats went 0-3 during man up situations. This has been a common theme that’s plagued the Panthers throughout the season.

The Edmonton Oilers defeat the Florida Panthers 5-1 to force Game 7. Game 7 will be held Monday night in Sunrise, FL., with puck drop being around 8:15 P.M. EST.
