Week 5 NFL Power Rankings

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4):

The only winless team. The Jaguars have talent on their roster that should make them a playoff team. The coaching between Doug Pederson and Press Taylor is a leash holding them back.

31. New England Patriots (1-3):

This team will do nothing with Jacoby Brissett as their signal caller. The Patriots have a tough decision of throwing Drake Maye to the wolves or sticking to letting him sit.

30. Miami Dolphins (1-3):

This Miami offense without Tua Tagovailoa is worse that I could have imagined. Despite the plethora of star weapons, the Dolphins are struggling to make any plays. Maybe Huntley will improve after his 1st week as a starter.

29. Cleveland Browns (1-3):

The Browns have lost to the Giants and Raiders in back to back weeks. If this isn’t a wake up call to replace Deshaun Watson, then I don’t know what is.

28. Tennessee Titans (1-3):

The Titans offense is very bad. Will Levis may lose the starting job to Mason Rudolph. However, the teams below the Titans are playing embarrassingly bad. At least Tennessee’s defense has done well enough.

27. New York Giants (1-3):

The Giants almost beat the Cowboys, and maybe should have. However I simply see no reality in which the Giants turn into a competitive team this season with Daniel Jones. Malik Nabers is very, very good though.

26. Carolina Panthers (1-3):

The Panthers have improved incredibly since benching Bryce Young. Andy Dalton looks like he has missed seeing the field. Carolina could pull out some surprise wins with the Red Rifle.

25. Denver Broncos (2-2):

The Broncos defense is extremely talented. The offense for sure needs to play better if the Broncos hope to keep up a winning streak though. 60 total passing yards is not what a team should rely on if they hope to be victorious.

24. Las Vegas Raiders (2-2):

The AFC so far has seemed very weak. There is a chance the Raiders could stay competitive with Minshew and sneak into the playoffs. The more realistic scenario though is that the Raiders are looking to draft a quarterback early in 2025. While writing this Davante Adams stated he wants to be traded…

23. Arizona Cardinals (1-3):

The Cardinals have proven to be an extremely fun team to watch. However considering how many teams are impressing in the NFC it’s hard to see the Cardinals competing for the playoffs. With many young stars on offense the future is bright in Arizona.

22. Chicago Bears (2-2):

This was easily the Bears best game on the offensive side of the ball. Caleb Williams had his most consistent game of the year so far and D’Andre Swift finally blew up. I need to see this Bears team more to move them up the ranks though.

21. Dallas Cowboys (2-2):

Ever since week 1, Dallas has looked lifeless. Dallas got decimated by the Saints, got belted by the Ravens before making it close in garbage time, and were close to losing to the Giants. The Cowboys could turn it around but as of now they don’t seem like a legit playoff contender.

20. New York Jets (2-2):

The Jets easily should have beat the Broncos. Despite Bo Nix only having 60 yards, the Jets still found a way to score less points. Breece Hall averaging 0.4 yards on 10 carries is horrific. This game is entirely on the offense.

19. Los Angeles Rams (1-3):

The Rams are struggling without their 2 star wideouts. I have confidence that the Rams could make a quick turnaround once Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are healthy. Until then the Rams will be scraping and clawing for each win.

18. New Orleans Saints (2-2):

I’m not yet ready to declare the Saints as pretenders. They were extraordinary in the first 2 weeks. Despite back to back losses they have remained competitive, being within 3 points in both losses. The Saints have a serious challenge this week against Kansas City. Perhaps adding one Davante Adams is on the table.

17. Los Angeles Chargers (2-2):

Herbert and the passing game have been extremely lackluster all season. If the Chargers want any hope to surge into being contenders Herbert needs to get healthy and play his best football. The rest of the pieces are there.

16. Atlanta Falcons (2-2):

The Falcons have been steadily improving week by week with Kirk Cousins under center. They are yet to have a surge that really makes me believe they are legit though. The Falcons look like they will be contending for playoffs throughout the whole year though.

15. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2):

The Eagles have been disappointing ever since the week 1 matchup against Green Bay. Losing the division to a rookie quarterback as Jalen Hurts struggles is extremely demoralizing. Philly needs to make some sort of change to get this train back on the tracks.

14. Indianapolis Colts (2-2):

As of now the Colts look like the 7th best team in the AFC. Indianapolis has so much potential but they need to put it all together. It will largely depend on if Richardson can develop and ditch the mental errors.

13. Seattle Seahawks (3-1):

Despite losing to the Lions, Seattle actually moved up my board this week. I wasn’t convinced by Seattle’s 3 wins against subpar competition. However, Seattle looked very strong even against a top tier opponent in Detroit.

12. Green Bay Packers (2-2):

Holy moly, Jordan Love threw it 54 times for 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in his first game back from injury. Love needs to cut down on the turnovers, but more importantly the Packers need to run the ball more. Specifically with Josh Jacobs, not Emmanuel Wilson.

11. Cincinnati Bengals (1-3):

The Bengals record does not reflect how they have played. I expect Joe Burrow and the Bengals to quickly turn this ship around and pile up some wins. This week was the start.

10. Washington Commanders (3-1):

Jayden Daniels looks remarkable. He has not only been the best rookie quarterback, but a top 10 quarterback in the league so far. Jayden has 7 total touchdowns with just 1 interception, has won the past 3 games, and has the 4th highest QBR in the league. Washington will be extremely competitive so long as Daniels plays like this.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1):

Justin Fields is playing electric for the Steelers. Despite them losing to the Colts, this team continues to solidify themselves. With an elite defense and great quarterback play this team has the ability to beat anyone.

8. Houston Texans (3- 1):

The Texans have been extremely good. Though, their competition hasn’t been the greatest this year. That is aside from the matchup against Minnesota in which they got curb stomped, losing 34-7. Stroud and the Texans need to convincingly beat a winning team to move higher on this list.

7. San Francisco 49ers (2-2):

The 49ers roster is a juggernaut. Once this team gets healthy they will easily make a case as the best team in the league. Until then they will still be extremely competitive, but aren’t quite the top dog.

6. Baltimore Ravens (2-2):

With a very convincing win over the Bills, the Ravens are looking up. The Lamar and King Henry backfield is finally looking monstrous. This team very easily could be 4-0 right now.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1):

Baker and the Bucs are legit. All 3 of their wins have come against winning teams in Detroit, Washington, and Philly. The Buccaneers have an extremely tough next 6 weeks though so they will continue to be tested.

4. Buffalo Bills (3-1):

Buffalo simply couldn’t do anything against the Ravens on either side of the ball. I have no reason to believe that Buffalo won’t bounce back strong though. Josh Allen and the Bills are still the 2nd team in the AFC.

3. Detroit Lions (3-1):

The Lions finally recaptured their outstanding offense from last season. In a very high scoring game against Seattle, Detroit was PERFECT. Jarred Goff broke the record for most passes with a perfect completion percentage throwing 18/18. Ben Johnson has this offense running like a new motor. Their eyes aren’t on the playoffs, but the Super Bowl.

2. Minnesota Vikings (4-0):

Sam Darnold leads the league in passing touchdowns with 11. 3 more than the next best in Baker Mayfield, Darnold does this while being outside of the top 10 in interceptions. Minnesota is clicking everywhere on offense as Aaron Jones is playing fantastic as well. Not to mention the Vikings defense playing extraordinary allowing the 4th least amount of points in the league.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0):

The Chiefs are the Chiefs, it is impossible to move them down from 1 until they lose a game. The Rashee Rice injury will for sure take a toll on this offense. Especially when considering that Mahomes and Kelce have so far taken a step down in production.
