Daniels shines in Commanders joint practice

Miami Gardens- Jayden Daniels is the REAL DEAL.

The reigning 2024 Heisman Trophy Winner and #2 overall pick has been the talk of the football world over the last year and a half.

Today, Daniels and his Washington Commanders held their second joint practice with the Miami Dolphins, and it was an absolute movie. Washington’s QB crops started today’s session of light working on accuracy drills alongside handoffs and cheek downs to the running backs.

As team drill assembled, Washington’s offense faced off against Miami’s injury prone defense during redzone drills.

Before getting into the specifics, I’d like to give a quick disclaimer: The Dolphins secondary was missing star defenders Jalen Ramsey and Jevon Holland. But this isn’t a Miami article (surprisingly), so let’s circle back to the Commanders.

Jayden Daniels looked absolutely surgical today. Daniels’ field vision was in full display, as he scanned through his reads while climbing a collapsing pocket. Jayden was delivering TD strike after TD strike, as he found star WR Terry McLaurin for two scores.

One of those McLaurin TDs stood out to me, because Jayden Daniels’ playmaking was on full display. As Daniels climbed the ladder inside the pocket, his pass was batted, but still ricocheted into the back of the endzone, as Scary Terry lept into the air, snagging the ball and immediately getting his toes down, securing the score.

Throughout the joint practice, Jayden Daniels showcased his elite rushing ability, which has made him one of the most dangerous players in this League. Washington appears to have taken a page out of Baltimore’s playbook, as the Commanders’ offense ran multiple option and draw plays today.

While I do NOT buy into Training Camp or pre-season hype one bit, I’m very excited to see the beginning of the Jayden Daniels era in Washington. The Commanders will face the Dolphins on Saturday, August 17. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 PM.
