Taysom Hill has become the most important weapon the New Orleans Saints have on their roster this season. Someone did the math and saw that Taysom was available for 18 drives this season and was unavailable for 18. In the 18 drives that he was healthy, the team scored 11 touchdowns and four field goals. Without him, they managed four touchdowns and four field goals. He’s integral to their success.
Taysom Hill Has Had a Tough Year Already
He missed the team’s first loss against the Philadelphia Eagles but was able to return against the Atlanta Falcons. It was reported that he had been dealing with a bruised lung and that it required a hospital visit as well. However, when he came back onto the field, the team quickly scored two touchdowns on two drives, with Hill marching in both. Unfortunately, he exited the game again with a chest injury, which made everybody fear that he reaggravated what he was already dealing with. The early indication and worry were that he’d miss multiple weeks to recover.
Well, it doesn’t seem like that will be the case. At least, not right now. Head coach Dennis Allen said that Hill suffered a different injury, having nothing to do with the bruised lung. The injury wasn’t even on the same side. Allen mentioned that it was Hill’s “ribs on the other side” of the injury he had last week. This could mean that we’ll be seeing him back in action rather soon. However, don’t get your hopes up for a return this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hopefully, He Returns Soon
There is a solid chance that the team will let him rest another week before rushing him back out there. However, it will depend on how he does in practice. At the end of the day, it is apparent that the team desperately needs him available. This is an offense that’s already missing two starting offensive linemen, Kamara was playing through a tough rib injury, Chris Olave battled through a hamstring injury, and now Taysom is hobbled. There are not many players left to lose. The hope is that the Saints find a way to upset the Chiefs on the road with Taysom available (and possibly trade for Davante Adams).
