Seahawks acquire DE Trevis Gipson from Jaguars

The Seattle Seahawks acquired pass rusher Trevis Gipson from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday in exchange for a late-round pick, NFL Network and the Seattle Times reported.

The pick back to Jacksonville is likely conditional, predicated on Gipson’s playing time, per the reports.

Gipson provides depth on the outside for the Seahawks, who saw Uchenna Nwosu go down in Saturday’s preseason game. The team is also unsure if Dre’Mont Jones will be ready for Week 1. The Seahawks have not yet given on update on Nwosu.

The Jags signed Gipson to a one-year deal worth $1.13 million in March. He appeared in eight games (zero starts) for the Tennessee Titans in 2023.

Selected by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round of the 2020 draft, Gipson has 11 sacks, 21 quarterback hits, six forced fumbles and 81 tackles in 48 career games (19 starts) for the Bears and Titans.

It’s the third trade for the Seahawks in recent days. They dealt cornerback Michael Jackson to the Carolina Panthers and edge rusher Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears.
