Miami Gardens, FL.- We’re back with live coverage from Miami Dolphins Training Camp!
After a 20-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night, the ‘Fins were back in action today at the Baptist Health Training Facility. The usual Camp festivities began at 10:30 A.M., as the team rushed the field for warmups.
Today’s practice began on a more celebratory note; as it was reported just moments prior to the start that star LB/EDGE Jaelan Phillips had been removed from the PUP List and cleared to participate in practice. Phillips, who suffered an Achilles tear on Nov. 24 against the New York Jets, has dominated his rehab, coming back to full participation in just under a 9 month time frame. As the team took the field, the Dolphins’ faithful cheered in support of their star defender.
The team participated in a walkthrough during today’s training session. No pads, no contact, just two-hand touch football. With that being said, the lack of pads didn’t stop the Dolphins’ stars from entertaining today. Miami Dolphins’ star QB, Tua Tagovailoa took the overwhelming majority of reps today, as backups Skylar Thompson and Mike White split time during the pre-season opener.
Today was a light load for the squad during 11v11 team drills. Not really anything to go crazy over. Tua looked as surgical as usual, methodically picking apart the defense for easy gains. The offense opened up the score board as Tua found TE Jonnu Smith for a back-endzone TD grab. Tua also hit WR Tyreek Hill over the middle, scoring on a beautiful crossing route.
As the final horn blared and practice concluded, Coach Mike McDaniel pulled the team together for a final word and breakdown.
