The New Orleans Saints were entering the season with minimal expectations. Most analysts didn’t anticipate them doing much of anything. They were usually ranked as the third-best team in a division that wasn’t thought to be the best. Since the season has started, they have been anything but disappointing.
The New Orleans Saints Fans Showed Out
The Saints destroyed the Carolina Panthers in the season opener, and some thought that it could have just been a fluke victory. After all, the Panthers are expected to be one of, if not, the worst teams in football. This group then had to waltz into Arlington to face the Dallas Cowboys and their vaunted defense. Well, the Saints shut down any thought that the first game might have been a fluke. They blew out the Cowboys in their stadium and hung another 40 points on their head.
The fans who were in attendance couldn’t have been happier watching their team destroy their opponents. During the game, you could consistently hear how loud the crowd got when New Orleans was doing something well. And when the game started to break open, you could hear a few Who Dat chants in the crowd, something you shouldn’t ever hear in Jerry World. For Cowboys fans, the situation got even worse when the game ended. Instead of heading home immediately, a large group of Saints fans went outside and started a literal parade in the streets with instruments to celebrate the team’s victory.
Despite playing a game on the road, and coming into the matchup as underdogs, the Saints fandom still went out to support their team and even ran a Second Line in the streets in Dallas to show them that they mean business. Anyone out there who is preparing to compete against the Saints moving forward should be well aware that this team is for real. Their fans are always going to show out, and nobody wants to play in New Orleans with that type of home-field advantage.
Eagles Up Next
All in all, this is probably the happiest that Saints fans have been since Drew Brees retired. Derek Carr is doing his best Brees impression through two games this season, and I hope that this continues down the stretch of the season. This group has another stiff test next week against the Philadelphia Eagles, and Philadelphia certainly doesn’t want to hear that crowd roaring early on.
