Haason Reddick Refutes Trade Request Report

By CJ Carlson

Haason Reddick has just come out and publicly refuted a report that was claiming he demanded a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles. The star pass rusher understands that it’s a business after all but has no plans of leaving the organization in the near future.

Reddick was notably drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent the first four years of his career down there before joining the Carolina Panthers in 2021. After that, the Eagles signed him to a three-year contract in 2022. With him only having one year remaining on his contract, it would make sense if the team could trade him elsewhere and get a return.

What didn’t make sense is his request for a trade, because he’s been having a few unbelievable seasons with the franchise, and they’re contending for a Super Bowl. It’s why his refuting of the report wasn’t entirely surprising.

Reddick came out and tweeted this, “Never asked for a trade. However, I do understand it’s a business. Preparing for whatever is next!” It later was announced by Jordan Schultz that Reddick said, “I would like to get an extension done here at home. At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded.” Again though, this doesn’t mean a trade could be imminent, because the Eagles were reportedly looking into trades for Reddick given the contract situation.

Haason Reddick Has Been Great For The Eagles

In 2022, Reddick had a phenomenal season. He had five forced fumbles, 16 sacks, 26 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for a loss, three passes defended, and three fumble recoveries. It was no wonder how he got selected to his first Pro Bowl and was named a Second-Team All-Pro. Oh, and he was actually even fourth place in the AP Defensive Player of the Year voting race.

The year after that, he had 11 sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, and was tied atop the team with 23 quarterback hits. This was the second consecutive year of him being named to the Pro Bowl. Reddick being traded would be a massive loss for aa defensive line that’s already getting up there in age considering Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham. Although, all of these mentioned guys can still produce at a high level.

It’s going to be interesting to see where Philadelphia wants to go from here anyways. Maybe moving Reddick is their first step in a long plan that helps them better operate in the future.
