Dolphins claim TE Jack Stoll, waive LB David Long Jr.

The Miami Dolphins claimed tight end Jack Stoll off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday and waived linebacker David Long Jr., a former defensive captain.

Stoll, 26, was waived by the Eagles on Tuesday after catching two passes for 10 yards in seven games (two starts) this season.

Undrafted out of Nebraska in 2021, Stoll tallied 22 receptions for 193 yards and zero touchdowns in 57 games (28 starts) for the Eagles over the past four seasons.

The Dolphins benched Long in Week 9 in favor of Anthony Walker Jr. According to Pro Football Focus, Long missed a total of 12 tackles in his last four games before the demotion.

Long, 28, has not played since Miami’s 28-27 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. He tallied 38 tackles in eight games (six starts) this season.

Long has registered 381 tackles with four interceptions, three forced fumbles and one sack in 75 career games (49 starts) for the Tennessee Titans (2019-22) and Dolphins. The Titans drafted him in the sixth round in 2019.

Long was in the second season of a two-year, $11 million contract with Miami. He carries a $6.7 million cap hit this season.
