Los Angeles Chargers Week 1 Injury Report
The Los Angeles Chargers have been a secretive team during the 2024 offseason regarding injury statuses. Players left practice left and right during training camp, worrying many. However, all Head Coach Jim Harbaugh would say is the player is “working through something.”
Throughout the past years, Chargers fans have become accustomed to many injuries from their star players. When new conditioning coach Ben Herbert began bringing players back to the trainers, it caused fanbase discourse. Michigan fans who know how Harbaugh and Herbert run their ship chimed in and said they are overly cautious, and it helps their players stay healthy throughout the long season. Looking at the first injury report of the season, it is clear that this is the case.
The only players on Wednesday’s injury report were WR DJ Chark, and CB Tarheeb Still. Chark did not practice with a hip injury, while Still had limited practice with a hip injury of his own. The team later added Justin Herbert to the report after the league told them they had to, even though he was a full participant at practice.
Justin Herbert discussed his offseason injury in his press conference on Wednesday. Herbert said the soreness never happened after a certain incident but over time. He also said it likely occurred before the season started, closer to the spring than the summer. Lastly, he said he is feeling back at 100 percent leading into the regular season.
Heading into a big opener vs. the Raiders, the Chargers are nearly at full strength. Injury-wise, things aren’t too different than how they’ve been before, but this is when people will start seeing how Ben Herbert is going to take this team and build them stronger than ever.
