Breakout Players from Every NFC East Team, 1 Week Into Training Camp

Every single season there are players that make massive jumps in the offseason to become star players and contributors to their team. Here are some of the most likely breakout players for the NFC East.

Dallas Cowboys:

There is one obvious player that needs to be discussed as a breakout player for the Cowboys, and that is wide receiver Jalen Tolbert. Tolbert was selected 88th overall in 2022 and has yet to see major playing time on the Cowboys offense. That is subject to change however as he is the projected WR3 and I believe may jump Brandin Cooks to become the WR2. Tolbert has looked very solid making some tough diving and physical grabs in camp so far and may become one of Dak’s favorite targets in a receiver room that is lackluster outside of CeeDee Lamb. With Dak Prescott at the helm, who led the league in touchdown passes last season, Tolbert should easily take a nice jump in production this season.

New York Giants:

I’m tempted to list a Giants receiver such as Jalin Hyatt or Wan’Dale Robinson as breakout candidates because I do believe they have majorly improved, however the quarterback situation will likely hold them back yet again. A player I’m positive is looking to have an emergence year is Deonte Banks however. Banks had a very good rookie season steadily growing as a lockdown guy outside, and has looked fluid and clean in drills, simply looking exceptional this training camp. Banks I expect to cement himself as one of the best young corners in the league, and may even have a breakout similar to Jaylon Johnson with the Bears.

Philadelphia Eagles:

There are many players who are going to improve on Philadelphia as they’ve constructed a masterpiece of a roster where every position has star talent starting and more talent waiting to shine on the bench. There are two players I expect to shine above the rest though. One of those players being center Cam Jurgens. Jurgens I had as a top tier center prospect coming out and was chosen directly by Jason Kelce during the draft as the guy to carry on his legacy. Jurgens has looked flawless in training camp and the Eagles shouldn’t worry much about losing their all time great center. Devin White is another player I expect to breakout in a major fashion on a new team surrounded by talent, White’s utility as a linebacker will be used to perfection on Philly’s defense.

Washington Commanders:

Jahan Dotson is a player who was looking towards having an emergence sophomore season following a fantastic rookie season in 2022, however expectations fell short as he had 5 less yards and 3 less touchdowns than he did the year before. Throughout camp Dotson so far has impressed maybe even more than star receiver Terry McLaurin has shockingly enough. Dotson has shown an incredible connection with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and Dotson has his eyes set on his first career thousand yard season as he may end up being Daniels’ favorite target underneath in the slot.
