NFL Free Agents on the move
The 2024 NFL season is long gone, and teams have already begun shifting their focus to revamping and reloading their rosters with free agents for the upcoming season. With player movement across the league running rampant these past few years, it can be assumed that teams will be willing to shake the league up even more when it comes to this loaded Free Agency Class. With Free Agency beginning on March 11th, here are some of the top free agents and some insight into where they may land.
DT Chris Jones
Chris Jones had another elite season and he is set up to sign a massive contract. It is hard seeing the Chiefs giving the $33 Million necessary for the franchise tag, so if we see Chris Jones hit the market the Tennessee Titans could be a perfect fit. With Chris Jones being able to stop the run and put up 10+ sacks a year he would be great for a Titans struggling defensive line.
EDGE Brian Burns
Brian Burns is one of the most talented edge rushers in the league and for him to hit free agency like this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for buying teams. Burns is a very versatile edge rusher that can get to the quarterback very often and the Cincinnati Bengals could be a great fit to pay him and also help him contend for a title. The Bengals could use someone to pair Trey Hendrickson on the defensive line and bringing in Brian Burns would be a great addition.
WR Mike Evans
Mike Evans has proven himself as one of the top wideouts in all of football, making history with 10 straight one-thousand-yard seasons. With Evans likely getting out of Tampa Bay and hitting the open market this season, no team in need of a wide receiver will pass up on a player of his caliber. The Texans could be a great team for him to land with. Houston will likely be big spenders this offseason to build up as much as they can around C.J. Stroud and there may not be any available better for him to throw to than Evans.
QB Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins is coming off a season-ending Achilles injury but has proven that he is a quality NFL quarterback for a team in need of a short-term answer at the position. Kirk Cousins would be great for the Falcons. If the Falcons want to make any kind of playoff run Kirk Cousins should be the first step who is a proven winner. If they want to build for the future, a guy like Justin Fields may be the answer, but it seems they believe their current roster is talented enough to compete now.
DT Justin Madubuike
Justin Madubuike improved his market value after a great 2023 season and could land some big-time money. Madubuike is a great interior defensive lineman who can make some big plays against both the run and pass, which is why he would be a great fit on the Texans’ young defensive line. The Texans said that they are going to spend money on defense to keep C.J. Stroud off the field so they need to bolster their defensive line and Justin Madubike could make some big plays for them.
RB Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry is a Pro Bowl workhorse running back. Henry had a two-thousand-yard rushing season in 2020, winning Offensive Player of the Year and earning an All-Pro selection. He was able to string together a 1,167-yard season this past season, even behind the horrid offensive line of the Titans. The Ravens are going to be a team to make a push for Derrick Henry. Baltimore has had running back injury struggles the past few years and a physical runner like Henry will fit great into John Harbaugh’s offensive system, effectively giving Lamar Jackson the best run game he has had in his career.
