Amari DeBerry is entering the transfer portal after spending three seasons as a little-used sub for UConn.
The 6-foot-6 forward posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, “I’ve cherished my 3 years as a Husky and I’m so thankful for my teammates and coaches during my time in Storrs. I have decided to enter my name in the transfer portal, and I’m looking forward to this next chapter of my life!”
On the Huskies’ Final Four team this season, DeBerry scored a total of 22 points in 23 games, averaging 4.5 minutes per contest. In all, she appeared in 65 games for UConn, averaging 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds.
DeBerry’s best game came as a sophomore, when she logged 13 points and eight rebounds in a 103-58 UConn win at Seton Hall on Jan. 17, 2023.
DeBerry was a five-star recruit in the high school class of 2021 out of Williamsville (N.Y.) South, and she was a McDonald’s All-American. She was part of USA Basketball’s gold-medal-winning teams at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup.
UConn lost 71-69 to Iowa in a national semifinal on Friday in Cleveland.
