Brady Sallee’s Cardinals were able to hold on late in a tightly contested matchup, defeating the Pitt Panthers, 73-62.
Ball State was feeling it early from around the arch, shooting 31 percent from 3-point range, featuring four coming from Madelyn Bischoff.
Ball State would keep momentum, with Pitt having moments of keeping the game within reach, including some marginal leads during the first half of play, but the offensive consistency played a factor in the game.
Ball State finished the afternoon with three double digit scorers on the day, Bischoff leading the way with 18 points and two steals, while Ally Becki trailed behind with a potent performance all around, finishing with 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
Pitt would be led by Liatu King, who grabbed 22 points on the afternoon, the only player between the two teams to have over 20+ in the game.
However, the starting crew wouldn’t be able to mustard up anything in the contest, with two double digit scorers for Pitt coming from off the bench.
The win for Sallee is his 6th against the “Power Five” competition, winning their second straight against Pitt, this time around on a neutral floor.
The Ball State Cardinals will head into Thursday looking to sweep the Sun Coast Challenge, matching up against the Georgia Bulldogs, while the Pitt Panthers will rap up their second neutral site FL event tomorrow against the Bulldogs at noon, looking to split in the competition.
