Coach Tom Herman and defensive coordinator Roc Bellantoni got some great news this week as Miami Northwestern’s Deangelo Thompson pledged his commitment to the Florida Atlantic football team’s defense.

Making his decision on Thursday, Thompson had a great time on the Boca Raton campus.
“I loved the environment around FAU, it’s like a back yard for Miami”, said Thompson. “The coaches are great guys, everybody had smiles on their face and we had a great time.”
The six foot four edge rusher this past season tallied 13 total tackles, three sacks, and six total tackles for loss across four games played per Max Preps.
Despite playing four games last season, his 2022-2023 year was solid. Thompson that season, recorded 16 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one interception.
Thompson joins Miami Norland’s Adrian Farrow, Eau Gallie’s Josh Roberts, and Fort Pierce Westwood’s Cameron Gooden as the next EDGE rusher to this 2025 recruiting class. Thompson is one of ten recruits for this incoming Florida Atlantic defensive recruiting class.
After an event with staff that seemed to pay dividends, FAU continues to strengthen its recruiting class for next year, and the defense especially.
“Coach Cibene that’s my guy – he was by my side the whole day making sure I felt welcomed”, Thompson said. “And I also had a great conversation with Coach Herman.”
Thompson chose the Owls over what many would consider some very compelling offers. The Miami native chose FAU over Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Temple, and AAC opponent Tulane.
“I’m so excited and happy about my commitment, Let’s Go Owls!”
