FAU Owls quarterback Casey Thompson suffered a season-ending injury durning Saturday’s 48-14 loss against Clemson, according to West Palm Beach local NBC news, citing ESPN sources.
Earlier this year the former Nebraska QB transferred to FAU to reunite with new Owls head coach Tom Herman, who recruited him to Texas 6 years ago.
Casey Thompson tore both an anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus, sources told ESPN.
After playing his first four seasons at Texas, redshirting his freshman year in 2018. He was the starting QB last season at Nebraska, with a 4-6 as a starter.
Thompson has thrown for 509 yards and tossed five touchdowns and also thrown five interceptions in 2+ games for FAU this season.
The FAU Owls are expected to start Central Michigan transfer Daniel Richardson at Illinois this Saturday.
Richardson came into the Clemson game after Thompson’s injury and completed 18 of 32 passes for 120 yards and threw 1 pick.
