FAU Men’s Basketball Makes Two Additions to Non-conference Schedule

FAU Men’s Basketball has added 2 opponents to their 2024 schedule, a P4 road matchup, and a home matchup against a Non-NCAA opponent, which will be an early season opportunity for FAU fans to see their squad.

In terms of the road game, on Monday afternoon it was reported by CBB scheduling insider Rocco Miller that FAU has scheduled a road matchup with Michigan State on December 21st.

FAU will also be facing off against Coastal Georgia at home on November 8th. This will be the first opportunity for fans to see the 2024-2025 Owls at home and will be a tune up game prior to the remainder of the non-conference schedule.

FAU will be taking on MSU in the second matchup all time between the 2 schools in basketball, with the first occurring in 2015 and resulting in an 82-55 Spartan victory in the season opener.

This is the second road game scheduled against a power program so far for the Owls, as they also have UCF scheduled for November 12th. Also on the road is FIU and Charleston in the Field of 68 invitational.

In neutral site matchups, FAU will open their season in Xenia, Ohio against Indiana State and will also participate in two neutral site tournaments.

After the matchup against Charleston on the 15th, FAU will take on Liberty on the 16th in the final game of the Field of 68 invitational and a week later the Owls will participate in the Charleston Classic, with a confirmed matchup against Oklahoma State, and possible matchups against either Seton Hall or Miami, and either Vanderbilt, Seton Hall, VCU or Nevada.

At home, FAU is scheduled currently to open up against NAIA Coastal Georgia on November 4th, and have matchups with FGCU on December 4th and Jacksonville on December 10th from paradise.

With one open slot remaining on the docket, it will be something to monitor where FAU looks to add another game, whether it is another home game, or they continue to challenge themselves with road matchups.

John Jakus wanted to put together a challenging non conference schedule in his first year in paradise and so far it is gearing up to provide him with a solid resume heading into conference play.
