He’s Back! Malachi Toney Re-Commits to Miami!

Plantation, FL.- Ladies and Gentlemen, we got em!

Breaking News: 4-Star WR Malachi Toney has Re-Committed to the University of Miami just days after the Hurricanes’ dominant win over Florida State. Toney is a top 200 recruit in the country, while being heralded as a top 25 WR.

Toney, a 5 foot 11 4-Star WR from American Heritage (Plantation), has been the talk of the town over the past few weeks. Back in 2022, Miami officially offered Toney, who later committed in August of 2023. Mali stayed committed for over the past year, and was relatively quiet about his recruitment process until announcing his Re-Classification from the class of 2026 to 2025 in mid September.

Earlier this month (October 3), Malachi Toney announced his intention to re open his recruitment process, while keeping Miami as a top option. After careful consideration, Malachi announced earlier tonight his plan to re-commit to the ‘Canes.

This announcement comes less than 48 hours after Miami’s 36-14 victory over Florida State. All eyes were on this matchup, as over 120 recruits were in attendance for the matchup.

Film Breakdown:

It’s not a stretch to say Mali is good at football. Toney, a 5 foot 11 speedster is going to be a key piece in the rebuilding of Miami’s receiver room. When breaking down his film, it’s clear that Malachi provides home run potential every time he lines up. Toney’s biggest asset is his mastery of the route tree.

While breaking down Mali’s play, he does a great job at dominating on short, medium and deep routes. Malachi Toney is one of the safest prospects in the country, and should easily make an impact early into his career as a Hurricane.

The addition of Mali Toney to the ‘Canes 2025 class was a huge add. Toney’s commitment elevates Miami’s ’25 class to the #11 group in the country (per the 24/7 Sports composite). Mali becomes Miami’s 7th highest graded commit, coming in with a .92 ranking.

With a big recruiting weekend under Mario Cristobal and Co.’s belts, I expect to see multiple more highly touted recruits committing to the U very very soon, ultimately creeping the ‘Canes into the top 10 composite.
