Warriors Beat Jazz Klay Thompson hits 15,000 career points and Steve Kerr wins number 500

Klay Thompson scored a season high 35 points and has now eclipsed over 15,000 points in his career and the Warriors narrowing beating the Utah Jazz 140 to 137 on Thursday. Draymond Green also has set a record as well in the game with his season high 23 points as the Warriors also have tied their highest scoring regulation game this season.

Thompson’s Season high by far

Klay Thompson in tonight’s game has eclipsed over 30 points for the third time this season with his latest game being a 35 point game. On the second night to go back to back for the Splash Brothers where he came off the bench for the first time since the 2012 season and Thompson has shined and Thompson credited his fresher legs during a halftime interview. Thompson also set another season high 18 points in the third quarter.

Heading into Thursday’s game Klay Thompson needed only 13 points to become the sixth Warriors player in franchise history to hit 15,000 points. Thompson made it happen during the first half scoring 17 points in just only 12 minutes. Thompson is joining Warriors players such as Stephen Curry, Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Paul Arizin and Chris Mullen to be in the 15,000 points as a Warriors. Thompson is now ranked 20th in total points scored.

Another high for Warriors in a quarter

The Warriors scored 48 points in the second quarter and tied their record for the most points in a single game for all season long. All star player Brandin Podziemski nailed a buzzer beater to put the game into halftime. The Warriors previously scored 48 points against the Bulls on the 12th of January. The Warriors outscored the Jazz by 16 points in the quarter and finished the half with a season high 84 points.

Kerr reaches for 500 wins

Steve Kerr tonight won number 500 and reached the 500 win milestone with the win against the Jazz. He is joining Warriors coach Alvin Attles who had 557 wins and is the only Warriors coach to ever reach this milestone. Kerr in only his 764th game is the fifth fewest games in NBA history to reach 500 wins. Kerr is behind only Phil Jackson with 682 wins, Pat Riley with 684 wins, K.C. Jones with 731 wins and last but not least Gregg Popovich with 745 wins.

Up next for Warriors

The Warriors are entering the All Star Break with a game ahead of .500 ball with a record of 27-26. They will not play again until next week on Thursday where they will host Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. During this All Star Break the Warriors are sending to the 2024 NBA All-Star are Stephen Curry and Brandin Podziemski.
