The Toronto Raptors acquired guard Davion Mitchell and forward Sasha Vezenkov from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for forward Jalen McDaniels on Thursday, ESPN and The Athletic reported.
Toronto also received the No. 45 overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft from Sacramento in the agreement, according to ESPN.
Mitchell, 25, spent his first three NBA seasons with Sacramento after being picked ninth overall in 2021. After averaging 11.5 points and 4.2 assists per game as a rookie, Mitchell’s minutes and production took a hit. He has career averages of 7.4 points and 2.8 assists per game in 227 appearances (32 starts).
Vezenkov, 28, made his NBA debut for the Kings last season and amassed 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while averaging 12.2 minutes over 42 games off the bench.
McDaniels, 26, will join his fourth NBA team in less than two years. After splitting the 2022-23 season between the Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers, McDaniels signed a two-year contract with the Raptors ahead of 2023-24.
McDaniels averaged career lows of 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game in 50 games (one start) for Toronto. In 248 career games with Charlotte (2019-23), Philadelphia (2023), and Toronto (2023-24), he has put up 6.9 points and 3.3 boards per contest over 248 games (45 starts).
