The Cleveland Cavaliers are hiring former NBA forward DeMarre Carroll as an assistant coach, ESPN reported Friday.
Carroll, 37, was an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers last season under then-head coach Darvin Ham, who has since moved on to an assistant coaching position under Doc Rivers in Milwaukee.
Carroll played all three frontcourt positions for eight different teams over 11 seasons from 2009-20, finishing with career averages of 8.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
Carroll’s expected hiring comes after Cavaliers new head coach Kenny Atkinson reportedly also added Jordan Ott as an assistant coach, a position Ott previously held for two seasons with the Lakers.
