NBA roundup: Trae Young’s trey in OT lifts Hawks past Lakers

Trae Young hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 7.4 seconds left in overtime, helping the Atlanta Hawks beat the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 134-132 on Friday.

Young had 31 points and 20 assists, while De’Andre Hunter scored 26 off the bench, as Atlanta won its sixth straight. Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 20, Onyeka Okongwu had 15, while Jalen Johnson chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Zaccharie Risacher and Dyson Daniels each added 11 points.

LeBron James led Los Angeles with 39 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, while Anthony Davis tallied 38 points, 10 boards and eight assists. Dalton Knecht had 14 points, followed by Rui Hachimura and Gabe Vincent, who each had 12. The Lakers dropped their third straight.

With 1:44 left in overtime, Vincent’s 3-pointer gave Los Angeles a 130-127 lead. Daniels and Davis then traded baskets, before Johnson’s two free throws pulled Atlanta within one with 36.9 seconds left. After Young’s game-winning triple, James’ 3-pointer rimmed out as time expired.

76ers 102, Magic 94

Paul George scored 21 points and handed out nine assists as the 76ers topped Orlando to earn a split of the teams’ two-game home series in Philadelphia.

The Sixers dropped a 106-102 decision to the Magic on Wednesday in the absence of George (knee), but they authored a crisper effort in this one despite once again playing without Joel Embiid (knee). KJ Martin provided a lift with a season-high 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting off the Philadelphia bench, while Tyrese Maxey and Guerschon Yabusele each pitched in 16 points.

Franz Wagner led Orlando with 30 points, while Jalen Suggs recorded 22 points. Moritz Wagner chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds for the Magic, who shot just 13-for-46 (28.3 percent) from 3-point range and committed 21 turnovers.

Celtics 111, Bucks 105

Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Boston extended its home winning streak to seven games by beating Milwaukee.

Boston used a 10-2 run to take a 105-101 lead with 1:29 left, and Jrue Holiday hit a

jump shot that put the Celtics up 107-102 with 25.6 seconds to play. Jaylen Brown added 25 points for Boston, which was outrebounded 51-41 and shot 32.1 percent from 3-point range (17 of 53).

Damian Lillard tossed in a team-high 31 points for Milwaukee, which received 30 points and 11 rebounds from Giannis Antetokounmpo. Bobby Portis finished with nine points and 18 rebounds. Khris Middleton came off the bench and made his season debut for the Bucks, amassing 11 points, five assists and two steals in 23 minutes.

Timberwolves 107, Warriors 90

Anthony Edwards put up a game-high 30 points, Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid anchored a stingy defense and Minnesota ran away from Golden State for a triumph in San Francisco.

The clubs will meet in a rematch, also hosted by Golden State, on Sunday. Edwards logged his sixth 30-plus-point game of the season. He made 11 of his 18 shots, including four of 10 3-point attempts, while also finding time for a game-high nine assists. Gobert snatched a game-high 11 rebounds to complement 17 points. Reid blocked a pair of shots while also contributing nine points, 10 rebounds and three steals to the cause, helping the Timberwolves win a fifth straight over the Warriors.

Julius Randle added 16 points and nine rebounds, Mike Conley had 13 points and Jaden McDaniels put up 10 points for Minnesota, which outshot the hosts 45.5 percent to 39 percent overall and 33.3 percent to 28.2 percent on 3-point attempts.

Jazz 141, Trail Blazers 99

Johnny Juzang had season highs of 22 points and six 3-pointers and John Collins added 20 points as Utah steamrolled host Portland.

Walter Kessler collected 17 rebounds and five blocked shots to go with 13 points as the Jazz broke a five-game losing streak. The win was just the second in 11 games for Utah and just its fifth in 22 games this season. Keyonte George had 17 points, Collin Sexton registered 16 points and seven assists and Svi Mykhailiuk had 13 points and eight boards for the Jazz.

Jerami Grant and Dalano Banton scored 19 points apiece for Portland, which lost for the seventh time in nine games. Anfernee Simons and Kris Murray added 14 apiece for the Trail Blazers.

Kings 140, Spurs 113

DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and Domantas Sabonis added 22 points and 16 rebounds as visiting Sacramento past San Antonio.

Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox also scored 22 points each for the Kings, while Keegan Murray had 17 and Kevin Huerter hit for 16 off the bench.

Julian Champagnie scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Spurs, who dropped a season-worst third straight game. Stephon Castle had 15 points, Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan tallied 14 apiece, and Chris Paul racked up 11 points and 13 assists in the loss.

Pacers 132, Bulls 123

Tyrese Haliburton scored 23 points and Pascal Siakam added 21 as Indiana snapped a four-game skid with a win at Chicago.

Haliburton hit 5 of 9 3-point attempts and finished with eight assists. Siakam hit 3 of 5 from beyond the arc for the Pacers, who had lost eight in a row on the road.

Zach LaVine scored 32 points, hitting 5 of 9 from 3-point range, and Coby White chipped in 19 points and nine assists for the Bulls, whose two-game winning streak ended.
