The Chicago White Sox placed starting outfielder Andrew Benintendi on the 10-day injured list Sunday, citing left Achilles tendinitis.
Benintendi left Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the bottom of the third inning. He hit a solo home run in the top half of the inning.
The team recalled outfielder Oscar Colas from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move.
Like most of the White Sox, who have the worst record in the majors at 15-44, Benintendi is in the midst of a subpar season.
A career .272 hitter, the 29-year-old outfielder is batting just .195 with five doubles, four home runs and 18 RBIs in 51 games.
Colas appeared in one game for the White Sox this season, going 0-for-1 at the plate on April 10 against the Cleveland Guardians. He hit .216 in 75 games with Chicago last season.
At Charlotte this season, Colas is hitting .244 with seven doubles, two triples, five home runs and 21 RBIs.
