Tyler Glasnow struck out 14 batters in seven scoreless innings, and the Los Angeles Dodgers held on for a 6-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night in Minneapolis.
James Outman and Will Smith each hit a three-run home run for Los Angeles, which earned its 10th win in 14 games to start the season. The Dodgers will try to complete a three-game sweep against the Twins on Wednesday afternoon.
Ryan Jeffers, Carlos Correa and Alex Kirilloff each hit a solo home run for Minnesota, which dropped to 0-4 at home. Austin Martin went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
Glasnow (3-0) entered the game with 15 strikeouts in his first three starts, and he nearly doubled that total on Tuesday. The right-hander scattered three hits, walked none and threw 65 of 88 pitches for strikes.
Twins right-hander Louie Varland (0-2) gave up six runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out six.
The Dodgers jumped to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Smith hit a leadoff single, Teoscar Hernandez added a one-out single, and Outman delivered a three-run homer over the wall in center field.
The blast marked Outman’s second home run in as many games.
In the fifth, the Dodgers doubled their lead to make it 6-0. Smith belted a three-run homer to right field that also scored Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.
The three-run shot represented Smith’s first homer of the season. The slugger out of Louisville hit 19 homers last year and 20-plus homers in 2021 and 2022.
Jeffers put the Twins on the scoreboard with a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth. It was his team-leading second homer.
Correa and Kirilloff opened the bottom of the ninth with back-to-back homers against Dodgers reliever Connor Brogdon. It was the first homers of the season for both Correa and Kirilloff.
Glasnow retired the first eight Twins batters before Martin notched the first hit with a double to right field. Glasnow sent down the next eight batters once again before Martin stepped to the plate and hit his second double of the game in the sixth.
