A Giants Sweep

The San Francisco Giants are so red hot in their last 10 games and just this weekend they sweep the Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles.

But first let’s talk about the Giants and how they are becoming so hot right now. The Giants just recently in the last few weeks have called up their number three, number four, number eleven and number fourteen prospects in their organization and they are as follows Casey Schmitt, Luis Matos, Patrick Bailey and Keaton Winn.

Keaton Winn has no relation with former Giant outfielder Randy Winn or NoFilter K Winn part of the Big Ben and K winn podcast.

The Giants have won 7 in their last 10 games and only lost 2 times and had a win in between. Just this weekend the San Francisco Giants came into Los Angeles on friday night to face Dodgers. They also came into Los Angeles after a day off to come back from St. Louis where they swept the Cardinals in all three of the games they played.

So let’s take a look at the series versus Los Angeles On Friday the Dodgers are hosting the Giants and it was the Dodgers annual Pride night. Yes the Dodgers Pride Night that received tons of backlash but we are not going to discuss that in this write up.

On day one the Giants decided to play a bullpen game. People wonder what do you mean by a bullpen game. Well, I will explain to you about that. A bullpen game is where you see a reliever start the game and pitch one or two innings or work before they put out the starting pitcher.

So an example of this is let say I have Tyler Clippard starting the game and he pitches only an inning of work. Then I can throw in my starter, let ‘s say it is Logan Webb. He will pitch however many innings he wants to throw then I can go back to the pen. This is an example of a bullpen game.

Giants

The game went eleven innings on day 1 and the Giants won the game by scoring two runs in the eleventh making the score seven to five. The game almost went to the Dodgers when Casey Schmitt dropped the ball.

Game two on the other hand was a completely different story to talk about but let dive into it. The game was quiet during the first four innings of the game and then at the top of the fifth inning the Giants woke up their bats and scored four runs in the fifth and then in the sixth inning they scored five runs in that inning.

The Giants pitching in that game was lights out for Alex Wood and Tristan Beck both pitchers gave up three hits each and had a combined six strikeouts in the game. Now let’s move on to the game that was played Sunday. We have noticed during this winning streak Brandon Crawford has been heating up and hitting the ball well.

He started off thye season struggling and hit below the Mendoza line. If you want to know what the Mendoza Line was, it means baseball jargon for a .200 batting average, the supposed threshold for offensive futility at the Major League level.  So this means like if you are hitting below a .200 batting average you are hitting at the Mendoza Line and this was what Crawford was at.

The game three starter was Logan Webb and he was really good and his statline for the game was seven innings eight hits two earned runs and five strikeouts. The top hitter for the series was Brandon Crawford and he was six for twelve during the series which helped his average and raised it to a .229 average.

Will the Giants stay hot in their next seven games at home versus the Padres and the Diamondbacks? Let us know down in the comments below and will Crawford stay hot or not.
