The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled right-hander Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.
Pittsburgh optioned left-hander Justin Bruihl to Indianapolis to open up a roster spot.
Jefferies, 28, was obtained from the San Francisco Giants on May 10. He was recalled for a May 29 doubleheader at the Detroit Tigers but didn’t make an appearance.
Jefferies was 0-2 with a 17.36 ERA in two appearances (one start) with the Giants before the trade. Overall, he is 2-10 with a 6.64 ERA in 16 major league appearances (11 starts) with the Oakland Athletics (2020-22) and Giants.
Bruihl, who turns 27 on June 26, had no record and a 6.75 ERA in six relief appearances for Pittsburgh this season.
Overall, Bruihl is 2-2 with a 4.40 ERA in 78 appearances (two starts) with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2021-23), Colorado Rockies (2023) and Pirates.
