Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. sustained a left triceps contusion when he was hit by a pitch in the third inning on Friday in San Diego’s 9-5 home win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee right-hander Colin Rea hit Tatis in the left elbow with a first-pitch sinker. Tatis initially stayed in the game, but Tyler Wade pinch-hit for him in his next at-bat in the fifth inning.
Tatis, who grounded out in his first at-bat, is hitting .279 with 14 homers and 36 RBIs in 80 games this season. Tatis has been playing with a right quad injury since April. Earlier this season, he had a career-high, 17-game hitting streak.
Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar also left the game early after he hit a double to right in the seventh inning. Profar, who has been dealing with left patellar tendinitis, was removed for pinch runner Jose Azocar.
Profar, who finished 1-for-4, is hitting.320 (which ranked second in the majors) to go along with 10 homers and 48 RBIs.
